University professor, Frank Onyezili commits suicide in Benue

A Professor of Biological Science with the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Frank Onyezili has committed suicide.

It was learnt that the deceased’s decision to end his own life might not be unconnected with depression and loneliness which he was believed to have suffered lately because his family (wife and children) are said to be living abroad.

Onyezili took his own life at the weekend by drinking a substance suspected to be poison after leaving behind a suicide note.

A colleague of the deceased, who wouldn’t want his name mentioned, told journalists that the family of Onyezili had abandoned him and that could have been the reason he decided to end it all.

The Director of Protocol and Information of the university, Mrs Roseline Waku, confirmed the incident but said she was not privy to the information contained in the suicide note.

When contacted, the Police Spokesman of the Benue Command, DSP Moses Joel Yamu, said he was yet to get the detail of the incident as of the time of this report.

Twins die in Calabar fire

By Ike Uchechukwu

CALABAR—Many rained curses on a woman who allegedly left her five years old twins at home unattended to as they were both consumed by the fire that razed their building in Calabar, the Cross River state capital yesterday.

It was gathered that the woman left a candle on the refrigerator in her room at 9 Edem Okon Street, II Transformer Inynasang in Calabar, in the early hours of yesterday, which later ignited a fire that consumed her two sons, Bishop and Ituobong and the building.

A neighbour and victim, Mr Daniel Udoh, said the tragedy was quite unfortunate and could have been avoided but for the carelessness of the mother of the children.

His words: “Their mother made them tea and bread and left for her boyfriend’s house leaving a candlelight on the refrigerator and asked them to off the candle when they were done but they slept off.

“I started noticing smoke at about 1 am and before I could come out with my son my house was already in flames from the roof while the woman’s room was already engulfed in fire.

“We tried putting off the fire but it was very difficult because of the rubber ceiling(PVC) which eventually escalated the fire that took over the entire compound. I had no choice than to leave the place, I didn’t come out with a pin, I lost everything in the fire,” he said.

Another resident, Mrs Gloria Asuquo, said the lady who fries yam and beans cake(akara), left her only children in the house to meet a lover.

Minimum Wage: NLC Threatens Fresh Industrial Action November 6

The organized labour comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has threatened to embark on a fresh nationwide industrial action on November 6.

According to the groups they will be protesting over what they describe as the government’s unwillingness to implement a new minimum wage for workers.

In the statement jointly signed by the leaders of the two labour centers, they accused the Federal Government of deliberately refusing to forward the resolutions of the tripartite committee.

They claimed that after series of negotiations, the committee had reached a consensus for a minimum wage of N30,000 but the Federal Government has failed to take further necessary actions.

According to the statement, the organized labour will proceed on the nationwide strike action, if the Federal Government refuses to take the necessary actions on the resolutions which they describe as a done deal.

The organized labour and the Federal Government have been enmeshed in serious debates over a new wage structure for workers.

This has led to several industrial actions, with the government threatening to enforce a “no work, no pay” policy for the workers.

The Nigeria Governors Forum, on the other hand, has stated that although the governors are not against a new wage structure for workers, some states lack the capacity to pay.

2019: I’ll rather die than join APC or bow to Buhari – Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said he would rather die than join forces with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in order to avoid being persecuted.

Fani-Kayode said this while reacting to reports making the rounds that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Senator Iyiola Omisore had allegedly retrieved their passports back from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and travelled to America.

The former minister in a post on his official Facebook page, said he did not blame Obanikoro and Omisore for joining the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in order to avoid being persecuted.

Fani- Kayode, therefore, urged Nigerians to stay strong and remain focused, noting that time has come for Nigerians to enthrone justice, fair play and equal opportunities.

He wrote: “I am not surprised that my good friend, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Senator Iyiola Omisore have got their passports back from the EFCC and are now in America.

“I do not blame them for joining the ruling party to avoid persecution. Some are strong whilst others are weak. I would rather die than join APC or bow to Buhari.

“We must stay strong and focused and refuse to be distracted. We must enthrone justice, fair play and equal opportunities for every Nigerian regardless of his faith, ethnic nationality or circumstances of birth.

“Ours is to speak for the weak, the poor, the voiceless and the oppressed.”

Gunman stabs DSS personnel to death, shoots DPO in Cross River

The personnel of the Directorate of State Services (DSS), Mr. Michael Orusede, has been stabbed to death in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The incident occurred on Thursday in Obanliku after an unidentified gunman stabbed him when he attempted to disarm a suspected killer who was shooting sporadically.

The gunman also shot the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Obanliku Police Division, whose name could not be ascertained.

He shot the DPO at close range before escaping from the scene of the incident.

It was gathered that the incident happened at about 5pm in Sankwala, headquarters of Obanliku LGA.

An eyewitness, who gave his name as Dennis Abasi, said the irate gunman was shooting into the air sporadically until the intervention of the deceased DSS official and DPO.

“I do not know the gunman, but we heard gun shots in the community and when we tried to find out what was happening, we discovered that someone was just shooting into the air sporadically.

“Not too long afterwards, the DSS official and the DPO, who were possibly together came to the scene.

“From a distance, there were exchange of words and the gunman dropped the gun. I am sure the DSS man had approached him to pick up the gun, but from nowhere the man brought out a dagger and immediately stabbed the DSS official in his chest.

“Within split of seconds, he again brought out another gun and shot the DPO. Shortly after doing that he ran away and somehow escaped being arrested.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident, saying that the unfortunate incident possibly took the security officers unaware.

“He shot the DPO, but nothing happened to him because he was wearing a bullet proof vest. The DSS man was moving towards the gunman after he had dropped his gun. He was probably going to have a peace talk with him, but the man suddenly brought out his knife and stabbed him.

“He was said to be shooting sporadically into the air and the DPO, who was in company with the DSS man went to see what was happening and when they got there, they saw the man and tried to calm him down when the incident happened.

“There was no attack to provoke the action. Nothing happened to the DPO. The suspect ran away but efforts are on to trace him” she stated.

I'm A Christian But I've Never Been To Church All My Life - Actor, Bolanle Ninalowo

So much has been written about this new Nollywood bludgeoning s*x symbol called Ninalowo Bolanle but nothing has ever been mentioned about his faith. As the hunk once revealed to Potpourri, he was born a Muslim but converted to Christianity. He claims to be close to God but has never seen the inside of a church in his entire life.

“I was born into a very strong Muslim home, but I am a Christian. I couldn’t read the Qur’an but I understand the Bible, and it has been helpful all my life. But I have never been to a church all my life; my office is my church. I don’t club; the little time I have is dedicated to God, which is key to success. No one can take you to God; it is you that will go and meet God. God knows those who worship him,” he said, saying his conversion was something his family took very hard.

“God has his way of setting people free. Not that my family accepted, but what can people say to a man that is already blessed by God? I thank God for raising me up in the faces of those that looked down on me,” he mused.

Ninalowo Bolanle is every inch a hunk of a man who may be both bad and good news to the ladies. Since he left America to come and find what fate has in store for him in Nollywood he has been pretty much on easy street, particularly, finding welcoming arms from the ladies. When asked if he had dated any woman in Nollywood, his answer was a tacit ‘no’

“ There’s a beautiful woman I love so much, though, we are not together but I still love her and pray for her because she means a lot to me,” he said.

Ninalowo, who holds an accounting degree from Denver University is a man many women would love to have in their beds but it appears this hunk of a man is stuck in love with a mysterious woman, he just can’t get out of his head. Who’s this woman?

Meet The Young Man Whose Intestine Was Mistakenly Cut By A Doctor During Treatment In Imo (Photo)

Chizoba Okoro is the Imo undergraduate whose flier for a thanksgiving service went viral upon surviving after a doctor allegedly mistakenly cut his intestine during treatment. He shares the experience with TOPE OMOGBOLAGUN

How did the incident happen?

I am popularly known as Danlynton Remedy. I am studying Sociology at the Abia State University, but I live at Okigwe in Imo State.

On April 6 this year, I was heading to another village in Okigwe called Umuaka to see my boss since I was also training as a printer. On my way to the village, I was involved in an accident; I collided with another motorbike. The handle of my bike hit me in the stomach. Although I didn’t sustain any major injury, I soon discovered that the part of my stomach that got hit by the handle was red and I had pains there. I was rushed to a private hospital in Okigwe to ascertain if I had not sustained an internal injury.

What led to the treatment error?

When the handle hit me in my stomach and I began to feel the pain, my stomach became red. While the doctor said he was trying to check if there was bad blood there, he used the surgical blade on me and in the process, he accidentally cut my small intestine and faeces started gushing out of my stomach.

What happened thereafter?

The doctor then referred me to the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia where a surgery was carried out on me. Doing the surgery at the FMC Umuahia, six doctors operated on me. They opened up my stomach, removed my small intestine and I learnt they cleaned it with some chemicals and stitched it back.

Did the doctor or the hospital pay for the treatment at the FMC?

No, they did not. I did not receive one naira from him. The doctor owns the hospital. In fact, I have not recovered from the debt of the surgery. I still have some debt to pay.

How did you feel when faeces started coming out of your stomach?

I was in serious pain. I could neither sit nor lie. I was uncomfortable because the pain was unbearable. I watched helolessly as faeces gushed out.

What is the name of the doctor and hospital?

I am sorry. I can’t mention his name or the name of the hospital. It is a popular hospital in Okigwe. They have begged me and people told me to leave them alone since I didn’t die in the process. Besides, we are kinsmen. I have forgiven him. I don’t want to ruin his career.

For how long were you in the hospital?

I had the accident on April 6. The doctor gave me some injections and also administered some treatment on me. Thereafter, he told me to go for a scan /x-ray which I did that the same day and I gave him the results.

I went back the following day to complain that I was still having serious pains; so he used the surgical blade and that was how he cut my small intestine. That day, when I got to the hospital at Umuahia, I was told some doctors were not around but those who were around attended to me properly. On Sunday when the doctors came around, I was taken into the theatre where the operation was carried out on me. I was there from 10am till 6pm when the surgery ended. I stayed for like two to three weeks at the hospital for recovery. After I was discharged, I still visited from time to time for a check-up.

What did the doctor say caused the mistake?

He said it was a mistake and it was the handiwork of the devil, but some people told me the man was on alcohol.

What lessons has the situation taught you?

It has taught me that God needs me to still be on this earth. Also, I feel He does not want my family to be in tears because I am the only son of my family.

Why did you decide to print fliers for a thanksgiving?

I am a printer; so, it was an easy one for me to do. Besides, I printed the fliers because I wanted to appreciate God in a big way.

What were people’s reactions to it?

Most people, who reacted to it, were those in my immediate environment. They understood the gravity of what I went through and were happy for me that I came out alive especially because I am the only son.

How did the event go?

It went well. We had a good time just that I didn’t receive enough gift as expected. People came and ate without giving me anything. And because I was excited by the whole situation, I took many things on credit with the hope that I would pay back after the party. I am confused now because I don’t know what to do.

Did you have the thanksgiving because you wanted to get gifts?

No, I did it to thank God for the life that He gave me, but I guess I just expected people to be courteous.

Why did you wait till October to do the thanksgiving?

I wanted to be sure that I was properly healed.

APC prmaries: Nigerians should rise against impunity – Mrs Buhari

Dissociates self from party “unfairness”

By Johnbosco Agbakwuru

ABUJA – WIFE of the president, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has lamented over what she described as impunity of the highest order in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the conduct of the parties primaries.

Mrs Aisha Buhari, Wife of the President delivering her vote of thanks after being conferred with Doctor of Philosophy at Sun Moon University, South Korea.

Mrs Buhari has specifically accused the National Chairman of the APC Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of allegedly being behind the impunity in the party and called on Nigerians to resist it.

The First Lady who has expressed her anger on the way the party handled its primaries wondered why it should encourage aspirants for political positions to purchase the party’s nomination form at a high cost and later turn to grant automatic tickets to some aspirants thereby denying those that had purchased form the opportunity to contest.

Mrs Buhari in a series of tweets on her verified Twitter handle, @aishabuhari, on Sunday, dissociated herself from the conduct of the primaries, regretting that the party’s national chairman who has labour background that required staying on the side of the people, should preside over impunity.

She tweeted: “It is disheartening to note that some aspirants used their hard earned money to purchase nomination forms, got screened, cleared and campaigned vigorously yet found their names omitted on Election Day, these forms were bought at exorbitant prices.

“Many others contested and yet had their result delayed. Fully knowing that AUTOMATIC tickets have been given to other people.

“All Progressives Congress being a party whose cardinal principle is change and headed by a comrade/ activist whose main concern is for the common man, yet, such impunity could take place under its watch.

“It is important for the populace to rise against impunity and for voters to demand from aspirants to be committed to the provision of basic amenities such as:

1. Potable drinking water

2. Basic health care ( Primary Health Care centers)

“Given this development one will not hesitate than DISSOCIATE from such unfairness, be neutral and speak for the voiceless.

“Education within conducive & appropriate learning environments.

“Let us vote wisely!

LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!”

Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has emerged presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2019 general elections.

According to NAN, Duke polled 812 votes to defeat his close rival, former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, who polled 611 votes at the party’s National Convention held at Old Parade Ground, Abuja.

The Convention Returning Officer, Dr Abdul Isiaq, declaring the results of the presidential primary election at the early hours of Sunday, said Mr. John Dara, former Special Assistant to Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma, former Defence Minister, scored 104 votes.

He also announced that former Ambassador and former Minister, Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher

polled 72 votes; former Ambassador, Felix Osakwe scored 10 votes, while the number of invalid votes was 63.

Duke in his acceptance speech, described his emergence as collective victory for all aspirants that participated in the contest, as well for the party and the nation.

He said that primary was just a step in the contest, saying he will go through the nation to campaign and sell the party and it’s polices to citizens.

Duke called for the support of all aspirants, the party officials and Nigerians to win 2019 general election, saying “we will reawaken in Nigerians that yearning that we are destined to be, but we cannot do this alone.”

He said that Nigeria was not a divided nation but a country of common purpose.

“What divides us is inadequacy and wants, because in the face of this survival of the fittest comes in, which ought not to be so because there is more than enough for everyone.”

He said if Nigerians were productive and abide by rules and regulations, the nation would grow from strength to strength.

“This is what good governance is all about and that is what I stand for,” he added.

Kachikwu speaks on Nigeria ending fuel importation in 2019

The Minster of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe kachukwu, has said that it would be sad if the nation’s refineries are not functional by the end of 2019.

According to him, the present administration was committed to ensuring that the importation of petroleum products was curtailed.

Kachukwu stated this on Thursday in Ibigwe-Ohaji in Ohaji\Egbema council area of Imo during the ground-breaking for construction of the 5,000 BPD Modular Refinery by Walter Smith petro-chemical limited.

The project is being partnered by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB)

He said that the Buhari administration was committed to ensuring that the nation’s refineries became functional by the end of 2019.

“It would be sad if by the end of 2019 we are still importing fuel from abroad.

“So, we are committed in repairing the refineries; by that we can at least process about 500,000 barrels of crude per day.

“The policy of this administration is `go back to refining about 20 per cent of our crude which will move to 50 per cent in the next five years’”, he said.

The Minister, who commended management of Walter Smith for partnering the NCDMB to realize the project said that he was hopeful that in 18 months the modular refinery would be inaugurated.

Also, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Mr Kesiye Wabote, said the Board invested US $10 million to catalyze the development of the Modular refinery and took 30 per cent equity in the project.

He added that the NCDMB would divest when the modular refinery was fully developed and operational.

Wabote pointed out that NCDMB was promoting the Walter Smith Modular refinery as part of its capacity development mandate .

He said that the investment was also in line with the Nigeria Content 10- year strategic plan.

2019 Presidential ticket: Again PDP holds meeting with Saraki, Atiku others

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will meet with its presidential aspirants and key stakeholders on Friday, to deliberate on a wide range of issues, particularly the conduct of the convention.

This was made known by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Among the 13 aspirants jostling for the sole presidential ticket of the party are a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa.

Others are President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki; a former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark; a former Minister of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Relations, Tanimu Turaki (SAN); a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jona Jang; and a former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

Ologbondiyan said that others “expected at the meeting are a former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed.”

According to him, “the meeting would centre on mode of the convention and the delegates’ list.

“The meeting will be attended by members of the Board of Trustees and other caucuses and will be presided over by National Chairman, Uche Secondus.”

Why I shunned EFCC invitation – Godwin Obla

A former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, prosecutor, Godwin Obla, SAN, has revealed why he ignored an invitation sent to him by the anti-graft commission over alleged default in tax payment.

The senior lawyer worked with the EFCC in the prosecution of many cases, including the trial of former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji for alleged financial crime.

He fell out with the EFCC over issues relating to disagreement about payment of professional fees amongst other undisclosed personal issues with the acting Chairman of the commission.

In a letter to the EFCC dated October 2, 2018, Obla through his lawyer, Dr Joshua Musa, SAN, contended that it was contemptuous of the commission to invite him over the tax dispute in respect of which they were already before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Obla argued that it was an act of disrespectfulness to the court for the anti-graft agency to take any further action on the case in view of the pending order restraining the EFCC and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) from further actions pending the determination of the suit.

According to him, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had granted an order against the EFCC and FIRS on July 25, 2018, which was extended on August 9 staying further administrative actions in respect of the matter till the substantive suit is determined.

The letter reads, “In reaction to the activities of the joint investigation activities of the EFCC and the FIRS, which culminated in the issuance of a notice of tax assessment dated 21 May 2018, now subject of a pending objection (dated June 04 2018 and July 02 2018 respectively), my client instituted an action for judicial review before the Federal High Court (Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/762/2018).

“I am now informed by my client that he has come into receipt of a letter date 27th September 2018 and signed by one Mohammad Rabo, Zonal Head of the EFCC for Abuja, by which the EFCC has purported to invite him to attend an interview in furtherance to the so-called investigation ‘on the tax performance of Specialised Professional.’ “As you are no doubt aware, the direct and unequivocal order of the court is for the respondents in that action (the FIRS and EFCC) to stay all further administrative proceedings related to the subject matter of that action, until the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

“This includes any interview (s) session on the same subject matter. It is our informed position therefore that, whilst this order of court, directing the stay of the administrative actions of the EFCC and FIRS remains valid and subsisting, neither the EFCC nor the FIRS can lawfully proceed to summon or request the presence of my client ‘in furtherance to the joint investigation by the EFCC and FIRS’ as the letter of 27 September 2018 purports to do. Such an action will be tantamount to contempt of court and a resort to self-help.

“As a legal practitioner yourself, you must be aware that it is settled law that where a matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction, all parties thereto must maintain the status quo until the court disposes of same.”

Bucknor-Akerele calls APC mafia organisation, takes swipe at Tinubu

A former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, has described the outcome of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos as ‘absolutely disgraceful’ and said it shows that the party is more like a mafia organisation.

Bucknor-Akerele stated this in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday.

According to her, the fact that an incumbent Governor could not emerge as the party’s candidate in the primary because of the idea that “one man must be served”, showed that the APC was no longer a political party.

“I think it is absolutely disgraceful, what has happened in the APC because it would seem that the whole idea in the APC is that everyone should be serving one man and if you’re not ready to serve that one man, then you are out, so to speak.

“It’s not a political party; it’s more like a mafia organisation,” Bucknor-Akerele said.

When asked how her relationship was with former Lagos State governor and National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, considering that she worked closely with him and was deputy governor under him from 1999 to 2002, she responded by saying, “Well, I was never ‘very close’ to him.

“Yes, we were together in the Senate, we fought for the restoration of June 12 and I was his deputy but certainly if the way he treated me when I was his deputy is the way you treat someone who is very close to you, then I’m sorry, I think it leaves much to be desired.”

EPL: Deschamps speaks on fight between Pogba, Mourinho at Manchester United

France coach, Didier Deschamps, has insisted he is not concerned by escalating tensions between Paul Pogba and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, after he named his latest squad ahead of games against Iceland and Germany on Thursday.

Pogba had told reporters he was “not allowed” to talk, as he passed through the post-match mixed zone interview area, following United’s 0-0 draw with Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday.

It was the latest episode in an increasingly tense atmosphere at the club, where a growing rift between Pogba and Mourinho saw the France international stripped of the vice-captaincy last week.

“I’m not worried at all. I’m definitely not Jose Mourinho and I’m not going o meddle in their relationship.

“Everything is clear with Paul. He knows each time why he’s here and what I expect from him.

“There’s what’s happening at their clubs but that doesn’t just depend on them.

“You can’t separate individual performance from a team performance with certain clubs who can go through a spell where results aren’t as good.

“That goes for all the players. You have to take that into consideration, but the set-up is different when they join us in the France squad,” Deschamps said during his press conference.

EPL: Robert Pires reveals Arsenal’s summer signing he ‘loves’

Former Arsenal star, Robert Pires has described the club’s summer signing, Lucas Torreira as the player he ‘loves’.

Torreira joined the Emirates club from Serie A side, Sampdoria in the summer.

Pires, however, believes the 22-year-old was a warrior since he joined the Gunners.

“I love Lucas Torreira,” Pires was quoted by Metro UK as saying.

“When you play in his position you need to be a warrior, and he’s a warrior.

“He likes to fight a good fight with the other players and technically he’s very good.

“He has good ability with the ball, good vision and now I understand why Arsenal paid a lot of money for him. He’s a very good player.”

Asked whether he wants Arsenal to focus on the Europa League or finishing in the top four of the Premier League, Pires added: “Why not both? ‘Arsenal have spent a lot of money this summer and I think they can compete in the Premier League and in the Europa League.”

“I hope and I wish for Arsenal and of course for Unai Emery because I know it’s not so easy for him.

“He’s already won the Europa League with Sevilla so he’s a very good expert for Arsenal.

“Arsenal can win the Europa League and they can finish in the top four because the first.“

When You Fall Out Of Cash, Your Wife Will Fall Out Of Love - Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye, has given marital advice to people who are looking forward to getting married.

According to Pastor Foluke Adeboye, a man needs to get a job before getting married, or else his wife will fall out of love with him when he falls out of cash.

At the day 4 of the Church’s annual youth convention, Pastor Foluke, who is popularly referred to as Mummy G.O, also gave advice to people whose marriage might be facing some crisis.

Below are some points from her sermon which were shared on the Church’s official Twitter account:

"The foundation of marraige must be on God and God only.

What is not of God is not good. Those who walk in the way of the Lord are undefiled.

There should be no deceit in courtship.

Don’t marry a wife on credit.

Whatever you can afford is what you should do. Cut your coat according to your cloth (not your size).

Get a job before marriage. When you fall out of cash she falls out of love.

The problem we have today is that Youths don’t want to be accountable.

An indomitable woman is supposed to be a builder in the marriage.

When you live a false life as a youth, when you get married your partner is in TROUBLE.

Honour each Other. Men love honour, some wives can’t even call their husband with respect.

If Jesus can tolerate us then we must learn to tolerate others.

If your marriage is already domitable it can be amended to indomitable.

If you can’t say SORRY, PLEASE, and THANK YOU, You need to amend your ways.

There can be amendments. God can make things better in your marriage.

Lord, have your way and give me to heart to surrender to you totally so that my marriage can be Indomitable. Lord, I want to enjoy the benefits of an Indomitable marriage, help me."

NigeriaAt58: President Buhari’s speech

NATIONAL BROADCAST BY H.E MUHAMMADU BUHARI PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE 58TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY, 1ST OCTOBER, 2018

Fellow Nigerians,

Today is a day of celebration and solemn reflection. It is the anniversary of the day Nigerians realised one of the most cherished of human desires – the desire for freedom. We, therefore, give thanks to and remember our founding fathers who laboured so hard and sacrificed so much to build and bequeath to us this wonderful nation. It is our duty to consolidate this great legacy.

2. On this first October date and on the eve of the start of the general election cycle, we should do well to reflect on what binds us together and the great strength our diversity bestows on us. Ours is an ambitious nation, and, as citizens we have every right to look forward to the future with confidence and optimism which are well founded, considering where we find ourselves today.

3. There has been a steady improvement in the security situation in the North East. We remain committed to ending the crisis and make the North East safe for all.

4. Our thoughts and prayers are always with the victims of the Boko Haram’s atrocities and their families. Beyond that, we know that the goals of the Boko Haram terrorists include capturing territories, destroying our democracy and denying our children the right to education. We will not allow them to succeed.

5. I want at this point to pay tribute to the men and women of our armed forces, the Police and other security and law enforcement agencies, who have been working under the most difficult conditions to keep the country safe. In the process, many have made the supreme sacrifice.

6. As their Commander -In- Chief, I assure these our gallant men and women that I will continue to empower them by deepening their professionalism and providing all the necessary force multipliers and enablers required for them to prevail on the field. I am looking into all reported cases of inadequacies in relation to their entitlements, their welfare and those of their families.

7. We are diversifying away from reliance on oil to increased manufacturing capacity, solid minerals development, and agriculture.

8. Efforts are on course in the Niger Delta to clean up polluted lands, restore hopes of the youths in the region and re-establish livelihoods, and strengthen their capacity to guarantee for themselves and for our country a brighter future.

9. The age-long conflict between herders and farmers that was being exploited by those seeking to plant the seeds of discord and disunity amongst our people, is being addressed decisively. We will sustain and continue to support the commendable efforts by all including civil society organisations, local and states governments and our traditional and religious leaders in finding durable solution to this problem.

10. This being a transhumance issue, we are working with countries in our region that are also facing similar difficulties to complement our common efforts. In this context I must warn that the perpetrators of murder and general mayhem in the name of defending or protecting herders or farmers will face the full wrath of the law. Meanwhile, we urge all peace loving Nigerians to reject any simplistic portrayal, at home or abroad, of this conflict as either religious or ethnic based.

11. We are one of the countries in the world most affected by environmental degradation, as a consequence of climate change. We are signatories to almost all conventions and agreements aimed at slowing down the effect of climate change and mitigating its now evident consequences.

12. The consequences on lives and livelihoods of the shrinking of the Lake Chad and the pollution caused by oil exploitation activities alone make it mandatory on us to be at the forefront of the struggle for a safer and more sustainable environment. We will continue to mobilise international support for our efforts in this regard.

13. We are making progress in the fight against corruption and recovery of stolen public funds and assets despite vicious and stiff resistance. The shameful past practice, of the brazen theft of billions of Naira is no more. Shady oil deals and public contracts that were never delivered have become things of the past.

14. Consequently, and this is very evident across the country, we have done more with less in infrastructural developments. Roads, railways, major bridges, schools, energy and power, air and sea ports, welfare of serving and retired personnel both civilian and military including payment of legacy debt such as pension arrears, have been attended to.

15. There is now an enabling environment for local and foreign investment in Nigeria. We are building a rules-based system – a level playing field that is free from fixers and intermediaries. This is the cornerstone to help genuine investors and honest consumers, and the platform that will allow for the real reforms that we intend to deliver over the coming years.

16. We are gradually strengthening the economy with a stable Naira and falling inflation rate. We are building an economy that is moving away from over reliance on oil. Consequently we have witnessed massive return to farms and seen bumper harvest, despite recurrent floods across the country.

17. These positive developments are the result of our collective pursuit of a common vision through hard work and dedication, after the missed opportunities and disappointments that followed the return to democracy in 1999.

18. At the forefront, have always been our youths. They have been at the vanguard of the struggle for independence. They fought in the war to keep the country united. And it was they who kept alive the struggle for democracy and human rights in our country at times when these were at risk, especially following the June 12th 1993 election and the historic 2015 election process.

19. Even today, our youths play a central role in Nigeria’s continuing progress and developments in all fields of our national endeavour –technology, agriculture, mining, engineering and especially the creative arts. Together we are building a more diverse, inclusive and self-reliant economy.

20. In the past three years we have introduced many policies and programmes targeted at youth development and youth empowerment. We support the ‘not too young to run’ legislation aimed at giving the youths greater say in our national politics and governance.

21. The school feeding program in primary schools is aimed at encouraging enrolment and attendance. We are building on what we have already introduced to support schools and universities to which funds have recently been released for upgrade of facilities, training programs for our entrepreneurs, and rehabilitation schemes for victims of terrorism and human trafficking.

Fellow Nigerians,

22. Now we have in our hands technology that is a powerful tool that we can and should use for knowledge and understanding. As with other countries, we must also learn how to manage those tendencies that, instead, look to abuse new technologies to provoke passions and stir tensions.

23. Never before have we faced such a challenge. We must all rise to the responsibility of shutting out those disruptive and corrosive forces that hide in today’s world of social media. We need critical minds and independent thinking, to question and question until we are satisfied we have the facts. Otherwise, all the progress we have made as a democracy since 1999 is at stake.

24. I have committed myself many times to ensure that elections are fully participatory, free and fair and that the Independent National Electoral Commission will be exactly INDEPENDENT and properly staffed and resourced. The ballot box is how we make our choice for the governments that rule in our name.

Fellow Nigerians,

25. Developing a thriving democracy is not an easy task. There can be no quick fixes or short cuts. These are the most important lessons that we have learnt in our 58 years as an independent nation.

26. At the international level, we remain a responsible and respected member of the international community, playing active positive roles within ECOWAS, the African Union and the United Nations as well as all other regional and international organisations and institutions of which we are members.

27. We will continue to support initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges of our times: global and regional crises and conflicts, terrorism, trans-border crime, climate change, human rights, gender equality, development, poverty and inequality within and between nations, etc. In this context, we are working hard to achieve both the AU 2063 Agenda for socio-economic transformation of our continent; and the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, which together aim at addressing these challenges

Fellow Nigerians,

28. As we celebrate the 58th Anniversary of our independence, we know we are on the right path. Although we have our differences, they count for far less than the values, virtues and common aspirations that unite us as a nation. We have so much for which we should be grateful, and in which we should rightly take pride. Our journey is not finished but we have come a long way.

29. I want to assure you that as President, I will continue to work tirelessly to promote, protect and preserve what really matters: a united, peaceful, prosperous and secure Nigeria, where all, irrespective of background, can aspire to succeed.

Thank you. I wish you a memorable independence celebration
